Joining Darren Thursday will be John Roulac, founder and CEO of Nutiva,
speaking on the future of carbon farming. Learn about the direct link of climate change, oceans as a store house of carbon, acidification of oceans, and how organic farming and pasture systems store carbon in our soils.

Saturday, Sept 20: Ojai Creek Cleanup Day
VALLEY RESIDENTS INVITED TO JOIN IN ANNUAL OJAI CREEK CLEANUP DAY

On Saturday, September 20, from 9 A.M. through noon, the Ojai Valley Green Coalition invites the public to join them and the Ventura Countywide Coalition for Coastal and Inland Waterways. That morning, participants will remove and record litter from Ojai Creek running through Libbey Park. Ojai volunteers are asked to sign in at 8:45 A.M. at the Libbey Park lower tennis court parking lot off S. Montgomery St. in Ojai.
Please wear sturdy shoes and we recommend bringing your own gloves. We will provide rubber gloves.

Mark your calendar for our annual E-waste Collection & Recycling Event in the Ojai Community Bank parking lot.
Saturday, January 10, 2015 – 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Items we’re taking to be reused, repurposed or recycled.
If you’re not sure, call us at (805) 669-8445
*All electronics (CPUs, monitors, stereos, printers, TVs, handhelds like cell phones & cameras)
*Small appliances (if it has a cord and fits on a counter we can accept. Example – vacuum cleaner, okay; washing machine, no)
*Ink & toner cartridges
*Media (CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes, cassette tapes, floppy disks)
*Household batteries
*Old holiday lights

Sat., Jan. 10 Stewart Canyon Creek Restoration
The Green Coalition is hiring volunteers for the C.R.E.W. Stewart Canyon Creek Riparian Habitat Restoration Project
No experience necessary with zero pay, but lots of good karma and satisfaction included in benefit package.
All ages welcome.
When: next date is Saturday, January 10, 2015 – 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. *Rain or Shine*
Where: park at Libbey Park lower tennis court parking lot off S. Montgomery St. and look for us across the street
What: prep cuttings and plant new natives to replace invasives removed
Why: to re-establish a functioning wetland and riparian ecosystem t0 support a diversity of wildlife species and to improve the flow of water
How: wear sturdy shoes, long-sleeved shirts and pants. If you can bring your own gloves and shovel that would be great, but we will have both on hand.
Water and snacks will be provided.
**Note there is poison oak in the area, but it will be flagged**

Practical Ways to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Landscape Water and Continuing the ‘Facing Drought Together’ Conversation
Friday, May 30th Chaparral Auditorium 414 E. Ojai Ave., Ojai
6:30 – 7:00pm: Meet and greet our neighbors
7:00 – 7:30pm: Potluck feast*
7:30 – 8:30pm: Local experts share about:
1. Overview of water saving landscapes
2. Introduction to greywater systems and rainwater resources
3. Climate appropriate trees and plants for the Ojai Valley
* Food: Bring either a salad, main course or dessert: ideally using local, organic ingredients (In order to reduce landfill waste: please bring your own plate, silverware, mug and cloth napkin)
