The Ojai Valley Green Coalition will be hosting an energy education seminar – "Use Your Power to Affect Climate Change":

The purpose of the energy education seminar will be to bring together expert speakers to help residents sort through the myriad of information and fast-paced technological changes related to reducing our individual and collective fossil fuel-based energy and water footprint.

While water resources and the drought are more of a challenge for the region right now,” said Green Coalition Executive Director Deborah Pendrey, “we see water and energy as two sides of the same coin and the challenge to conserve is essential. We hope to help attendees address them together - power needs water, water needs power.”

The seminar will feature presenters who address water and energy issues day in and day out, from on-the-ground building experts to nonprofit and governmental representatives in the field. Topics will range from available energy and water efficiency upgrade financial tools, to our homes as an ecosystem, why renewable energy and rooftop solar is so important and a new model for community energy.

"Working on how your home uses energy and water will go a long way to saving on utility bills and conserving natural resources, but there are other advantages homeowners don't take into account," said emPower Energy Coach Javier Saucedo, one of the seminar presenters. "These upgrades can also help improve indoor air quality, comfort, durability and the value of the home.”

The Ojai Valley Green Coalition is a 501(c)3 environmental education and community service organization. Our mission to advance a green, sustainable and resilient Ojai Valley is achieved through education, advocacy, skill-building, service, wellness, and action.
