Keeping Our Open Spaces and Agricultural Land

Save Open Space and Agricultural Resources (SOAR) is a series of voter initiatives that require a vote of the people before agricultural land or open space areas can be rezoned for development. Most of the Ventura County SOAR initiatives expire in 2020.

The best window for renewing the SOAR initiatives is the November 2016 election to continue the SOAR protections for agriculture and open space thru to the year 2050.

The SOAR renewal effort needs us to step forward to gather a share of the 84,000 signatures that will be needed to get the SOAR initiatives on the November 2016 ballot. SOAR veterans will train volunteers to gather signatures. The Coalition will be helping to staff tables at store fronts, Farmers Market, etc.

Please contact Peter Cantle, if you would like to assist with this important effort. You can sign the petition at the Coalition Resource Center.

Remember: the County SOAR initiative blocks the Ventura County Board of Supervisors from rezoning unincorporated open space, agricultural or rural land for development without a vote of the people.
