EarthPlay 2011 - A Day to Celebrate Terra Firma!

EarthPlay-2011-logo.jpgCome be part of the 12th annual Earth Day event, EarthPlay 2011, on Saturday, April 23, at Oak Grove School. The free event will celebrate sustainable living, global awareness, and the joy of nature.

"I know the adage is ‘make Earth Day everyday’, but gatherings like this can't happen everyday…” says Lori Hamor, Program Director for Food for Thought, an event co-host. “Earth Day is a very special and necessary reminder for all of us to stop and consider our impact on the planet we share."

Join fellow members of the OVGC, and co-hosts Food for Thought, Oak Grove School, and The Ojai Valley Land Conservancy, in a day of environmental exhibits, live entertainment, art, and outdoor activities.

Please join us under the historic oaks, on the 150-acre campus of the Oak Grove School, 220 W. Lomita Avenue, Ojai, on Saturday, April 23, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Admission is free.

The Ojai Trolley will provide free service to any one who’s going to the Earth Day event. There will be a Bike Valet again this year, provided by Oak Grove School students with any tips going to help fund their school projects. If you don’t walk, bike, or take the trolley you might use the special premier parking for hybrid vehicles.

“Earth Day is an opportunity to stop what we're doing and come together as a community,” said Deborah Pendrey, our OVGC Executive Director. “Learning to continually reduce our ecological footprint, the way we live, do business, and govern, will make us more sustainable; using the day to bond together will make us more resilient.”

So come on down to EarthPlay everybody! Bring your families, friends, and neighbors.

“Nothing is more public then our environmental well being,” said Meredy Benson Rice, Head of Oak Grove School. “We are honored to be a part of this.”

“We are excited to be able to bring this message of stewardship to our broader community in partnership with these other organizations that share our love of the earth,” added Marti Reid, Office Manager for the O.V.L.C.
